BIBLIOTHECA INVISIBILIS now has over 50 citations/entries into its library! It's interesting to see some of the poets/artists from the mid-20th century start to appear with their Conceptual/Minimalist Art.
And a Housekeeping Note: There's something awry with my "Nalanda10@aol.com" email addy. For now, please use "GalateaTen@aol.com" to communicate with me.
We continue to be open to your participation!

LITERARY ACTIVISM
VERSES TYPHOON YOLANDA is being used for activism beyond the literary, as it was meant to be! Coming up, poems in VTY apparently are being used in De Anza College's “Unnatural Disaster: Typhoon Haiyan” -- a cross-disciplinary curriculum project involving faculty participants from the English, Women’s Studies, Political Science and Environmental Studies departments. The project will include a teach-in, a research project, an action project and a Spring 2014 Benefit Concert.
As part of this project, I will be presenting VTY and doing a reading with Michelle Bautista and Aileen Ibardaloza at their May 31 benefit -- more deets to come closer to the date!
And recently, I had to stuff myself for desserts for the good cause of raising funds for Typhoon Haiyan (known as "Yolanda" in the Philippines) survivors. We raised funds for another good cause, the Yellow Boat Foundation and the Panay-Bukidnon tribes. The Yellow Boat Foundation helps fishermen who lost their boats during the typhoon. More info HERE with pictures of me and my cakes!
A long way to go with fundraising, folks! Official government estimates are looking at a minimum three years required to help the population overcome the effects of Haiyan. I hope you can help!

POEM FROM A TRUE STORY (#7)
While seeing the lovely “Shun Li and the Poet" as part of my Netfllx Binge, I was moved to interrupt the movie to write
I forgot how
the wind brought
me to you
you to me
though an ocean
is relentless
between us
I'm stuck in the "I forgot" structure, as inspired by the "I forgot" poem in Tom Beckett's Diptstick(Dyptych)... whose launch you should attend in New York City this Friday!

I BUY POETRY! (2014, #2)
Woot! Someone just placed a single, 15-book order of VERSES TYPHOON YOLANDA!
Extremely heartening given the continued drop in overall poetry book sales (for example, HERE and HERE). Which is why I also try to ensure I continue to buy poetry books even as my To-Read stacks continue to grow. Here’s an update on moi Recently Bought Poetry List of books by poets or about poets/poetry:
MEMORY HOLES by Erin Virgil
THE NOTHING THAT IS by John Olson
AMULET by Jason Bayani
THE CASTING OF BELLS by Jaroslav Seifert, Trans. From the Czech by Paul Jagasich & Tom O’Grady
HOROSCOPES FOR THE DEAD by Billy Collins (It was on extreme sale :)
147 MILLION ORPHANS (MMXI-MML) by Eileen R. Tabios
VERSES TYPHOON YOLANDA: A STORM OF FILIPINO POETS (edited by yours truly; if I buy my own books I include on this list)
My list of purchased books is skewed as much of what interests me is given to me for free. But I try, and click HERE for other poetry or poetry-related books I've purchased in the past.

BORN TO READ!
Michelle and Gabriela read a kiddie book I published viz Meritage Press: BEAUTIFUL EYES!
What I like about this angle of the shot below is how Gabriela looks like a critic. Develop that critical eye, early, why not!
By the way, of course I gave her that "Born to Read" onesie (click on first shot to enlarge). Of course Moi did!
